The Members will consist of professionals that, in accordance with their expertise and experience, can work for the fulfillment of the objectives of the Institute or are in harmony with same.

  • Members must be Arab Film Professionals whose work is existing and recognized.
  • Members should declare their willingness to actively support the aims of the Institute, as well as to participate in the Institute training and promotional activities.
  • Members will be given voting rights for the Film Awards and also participate in various Institute activities around the region.

Membership guideline

The Institute members comprise film industry professionals (directors, screenwriters, actors, producers, film technicians, distributors, institutions, film critics and agents).

Members should submit their applications in written including the name and email of two of their fellow colleagues from the industry along with proof of professional experience fulfilling the requirements of the Institute Regulations.

In addition, the Board of Governors reserves the right to accept or refuse submissions in exceptional circumstances.

Members can lose their status only due to one of the following reasons:

  • By resignation
  • For not paying the membership fees
  • For misconduct or sentenced by law

List of members is updated frequently.

Membership applications are accepted all year round. Members can only vote if they are approved members before December 31st.

FULL MEMBERSHIP
Industry professionals who have contributed to at least three (3) features, short, documentary and animation films in major roles over the past five (5) years of their career.(Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Actor/Actress, Cinematographer, First Assistant Director, Executive Producer, Line Producer, Post-Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Editor, Sound Designer, Production Designer, Makeup & Hair Artist, Costume Designer, Special Effects, Technicians and Talent Agent).

In addition, Festival Directors, Artistic Directors, Film Funds, Distributors, Institutional Managers, Film Critics and Cinema Managers with over five (5) years experience are eligible to full membership.

All full members have voting rights at the annual Film Awards in all the categories.

YOUNG PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP
Industry professionals who have contributed to at least one (1) feature, short, documentary and animation films in major roles over the past three (3) years of their career.
(Director, Screenwriter, Producer, Actor/Actress, Cinematographer, First Assistant Director, Executive Producer, Line Producer, Post-Production Supervisor, Production Manager, Editor, Sound Designer, Production Designer, Makeup & Hair Artist, Costume Designer, Special Effects, Technicians and Talent Agent).

In addition, Festival Directors, Artistic Directors, Film Funds, Distributors, Institutional Managers, Film Critics and Cinema Managers with three (3) years experience are eligible to young professional membership.

Young members have voting rights for the student film award category at the annual Arab Film Awards.

CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP (FOR COMPANIES ONLY)
Packages are available for all organisations, production houses, post-production companies, equipment rentals, film festivals, film schools, distribution companies and other Institutions.
Up to five employees are entitled to receive their membership package based on their esteemed professional experience.
Additional employees will receive 25% discount on membership fee.
Corporate members will benefit to have their companies logo and link prominently placed on the Institute’s website for an entire year.

STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
Students with undergraduate or graduate level are entitled to become members of the Institute.
Students must submit verification of active student status with their applications.
Students must provide a photocopy of either: School Registration or a valid student ID.

Membership fee and process
The Institute’s Board of Governors will fix the amount annually and members will be informed if any changes are pertained to the membership annual fee.

Once your application is reviewed and approved, you will be asked to pay the membership fee.

Members who fail to pay the annual fee will be deemed to have resigned and shall be removed from the list of the members, unless decided by the Institute Board of Governors to maintain the membership with a certain explanations.

Members of the Institute shall pay an annual membership fee.
Corporate membership rate is 1,000 US$
Membership annual fee is 80 US$
Student membership is free of charge.

  • Cash payment: To be handed to AFI staff members or local representatives in the country.

Members of the Institute should inform the Institute Secretariat of any change of address or residency when occurred.

In case a member of the Institute wishes to resign. He/she must send their request by registered letter with proof of receipt to the Institute Secretariat or via email to .
